Strange But True Hands Now Pale AndPinkTipped I DESIGNED AS THE HOME OF A FUSSY -FAMILY I Hands are going the _way of the rest of the ultra-fenainine cycle at the moment and from being brisk and brown must now be pale, pink tipped and look decorative instead of useful. Even granting one can beat the boy friend at tennis and break 90 on the fairways the hands must never give one away. All of which sums up to the fact that one'!! hands must have very special care to give them that fragile feminine look which is all the vogue this :season. If they are brown from sun and outdoor sports, then first of all bleach them out with a good lotion. Bere is a simple and effective routine to follow and which should bring quick results. At night before retiring first wash the hands with a good pure soap, letting them remain in the soapy water a few Dlinutes. Immediately after drying push the cuticle back with an orange wood stick. Next apply a greaseless bleach lotion to the backs, letting it remain on while one does the other bedtime chores. Just before getting ~nto bed remove t h e bleaching lotion and rub in thoroughly a good nourishing cream, manipulating the fingers to make them supple and pressiiJ,g the tips of the fingers to make them pointed. Be sure to keep on hand in your bathroom cabinet a bottle of good non-greasy softening lotion and rub this on the hands after washing. Make it a point to visit your beauty parlor at least once a week and at the time you have a manicure, have a treatment for your hands, having the fingers massaged and a good cream rubbed thoroughly into the skin; .. Save the Crockery. - Crockery will not be so easily broken if you wring out a spare dish-cloth and .spread iit over the draining board before placing the washed china on the board. The dishes will not slip and will need less drying, as the water drains into the cloth. Longer Life for the Broom.-An ordinary broom will last longer if dipped in boiling soapsuds for a minute or two each week. • For Tar Stains.-Rub tar st.aiins on cloths with lard, and afterwards wash out in hot water to which a little liquid ammonia has been added. An Appetizer. - Celery stuffed with crabmeat salad can be used for variety ,on an appetizer tray. Grease on Carpet.-Grease can often be renaoved froDl the carpet ), by rubbing with bicarbonate of soda applied with a piece of flannel. Sprinkling usually moistens the surface soil only and thus the roots naturally come up there for water. When the root system is concentrated near the surface there is more danger of injury by hoeing; and if sprinkling is not done constantly, plants will be quickly affected by drouth. Considered from the time angle, morever, sprinkling is impractical. Many hours can be wasted holding the hose and directing the spray. Time of watering is not of great importance, but is is usually considered more economical to water thoroughly early in the forenoon or late in the afternoon since the soil can then be thoroughly soaked with less loss from evaporation. The most efficient method of watering, according to Walter H. Nixon, Ferry Seed Breeding Station vegetable expert, is to lay the hose on the ground. Do not have too heavy a flow of water, or there will be a washing of soil and exposure of roots. Let the water run slowly in one place for 20 minutes to half an hour. KEEP THE SUBSOIL MOIST. Prevent Soiled Curtains.-Paint patent clothes pins the color of your decorations in different rooms and use a pair to pin back curtains at night or during showers. This keeps the curtains frona being soiled by the screens. ''I'm not making enough on your rent to paint it this season.''
