Earl Alsop and Rodney .Allsop were on the receiving committee for the "Sentinel League Mothers' club'' at the Belvedere apartments Monday evening. Judge Moffat spoke on the con.stitution. Among the students with a rating of 2 point 5 or better for the winter quarter at the University of Utah from the Jordan high .school ;included Ruth Allgood of Crescent; Edith Carlquist of Draper; James Hilton of Butler, and Everett Ostler of Sandy. Mrs. Margaret York, Mrs. Grace Holman, Mrs. Verda Gilson and little son and Louis York, all of Santaqui~, and Mrs. Wilma Edwards and two children of Nephi and Mrs. C. J. Carlson of Bing}lam were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Stapley. The Draper Junior high school presented a musical program at Sandy Junior high school assembly, Tuesday. They were under the direction of Murray Lewis, music director of the Draper school. Mrs. Pearl Pollick of Bingham spent Friday the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Thomas Ostler. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Beckstead of Herriman were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Ferguson. Special programs honoring the mothers will be given in each of the three Sandy wards Sunday in connection with the ward Sunday school, according to those in charge. Mrs. Luella Voorhees of Manti is the guest this week of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and :Mrs. J. M. Woodhouse. Mrs. J. B. Barton of Salt Lake returned Sunday after spend.ing a week the guest of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Ctapo and family. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Cabibi spent the week end the guests of Mrs. Ca.bibi's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jo'bn Coleman of Spring City. Mrs. Nels A. Nelson attended the social and banquet: Saturday ,at Herriman, given in honor of those of the ward seventy years ()f age and over, and their partJlers. Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Tolman and children and Mr. and Mrs. Morris Cundick and Mrs. Lon Ken- I ney all of Salt Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Holt and children of Union were visitors Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Boulter. The civic classes of the ninth grade of the Sandy Junior high ' school under direction of faculty advisers, Robert L. Pixton and Miss Thelma Naser, enjoyed an educational tour in Salt Lake Thursday, when they visited at Cudahy's Packing plant, Purity Biscuit company, the State Capitol building and the State penitentiary. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Han!'en and Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Hansen returned Tuesday from a trip to eouthern Utah where they visited with relatives. Hawkins of Granite will be happy to learn of his recent promotion in the mission field. On Sunday 1 April 24 at their conference in Oklahoma, Elder Hawkins was eet apart as district president of west Oklahoma. His many friends in Granite join in wishing him success in his new field of labor. Mary Blair Blanche Blair, and Elaine Bentley entertained a few friends at a waffle supper Sunday evening at eight o'clock 1_1-t the Blair home. Covers were la1d for Miss Jennie Archibald, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Despain, Albert Tennant, George Ebert, Lawrence Smith and the hostesses. Following supper the evening was enjoyed in games. Last Saturday evening Mrs. S. J>eter Peterson was a guest of Mrs. Paul Felt and Mrs. Randolph Jensen who entertained at a miscellaneous shower at the Hill apartments in Salt Lake City, complimenting Miss Maza Thomson of 1093 Denver street, who on May 7 will marry Lorenzo T. Mozley also of Denver street in the Salt Lake temple. Clever games were enjoyed followed by a dainty bufet luncheon. Twelve ladies participated. Thursday, April 21 the Gran.ite Ladies Sewing club met with Mrs. Joseph Despain as hostess. April 28 the same group of ladies en- I joyed the afternoon at the home of Mrs. Jobn Fletter. Sporran of Park City were guests at the Melvin Peterson home Sunday. A farewell party will be held for David Madison, son of Mrs. Louetta Madsen, at the Second ward chapel in Riverton Monday evening at 8 p. m. Mr. Madsen leaves for the east central states on a mission May 12. On Sunday a dinner was held In his honor.
