Show Midva le Journ al, Thurs day, Janua ry 30, 1930 1\Iidvale School Notes ~UDEN'l' BODY GIVES ASSE~lBLY PROGRAf~I Monday saw the students enjoying an unusual assembly program. Dar11 Jensen, a former Midvale student who has been quite prominen t in the music departme nt at Jordan, gave two piano selections . ''Not Quite Such a Goose," a oneact play, was next on the program. It was presented by Jordan high school students with Clayton Nelson and Imogene Kimball playing the leads. Our own Miss Henderso n concluded the progtam with two lively tap dances. SHORT TOPICS Much lively interest has been taken in the work of our band since it made such a showing during the Farm Bureau conventio n at Salt Lal{e. Pictures of several of our musicians were in the Salt Lake paper. The ninth grade students enjoyed a coasting party Wednesda y. Every1'one had a good time, especially pushing M1·. Horne's car out of the drifts. Many ninth grade students report that they are enjoying their new literature class immensel y. They .ooare studying "Poems of Our Country." The Midvale teachers' basketbal l team won a close game from the combined teachers of Sandy and Union. Coach Horne dribbled, passed, and scored exception ally well for Midvale, while Brady and Olsen excelled for the other team. Wheneve r oJrdan sends her students to our school to give a program, we are delighted. Many times during our assemblie s have her students entertain ed us. Each time the program has been of high quality. We welcome them whenever they come. Fred Anderson seems to be the most willing cheer leader we have ever. had. If we support him, we will have rousing rallies. Midvale Tiger::; found that the Bingham basketbal l team was an exceptional ly good one. The score was 25 to 5, but that does not indicate the fighting spirit of the smaller Midvale five. One of these days this fighting spirit will triumph for our school. A highly touted midget team from Salt Lake came to Midvale last week to play our midgets. Nearly every small boy in school got a c11ance to play against the Salt Lake team, and together, they rolled up a big score. A sign of spring has come to our school. Some of the seventh grade boys are building bird houses in their shop classes. A splendid new set of books for the primary grades have come. They used wholly Thursday .
