The vertical crevice which is found at the base of the agitator in most washers of thia type is apt to tear and wear clothing arid crush buttons by grinding them between the two metal surfaces forming the crevice. This is not possible in the Haag Vortex. A patented de·. lign (it cannot be had in any other machine) eliminates entirely this destructive crack. For that reason the Haag Vortex can wash fast60 pounds per hour-w ith perfect safety to clothing. Every woman appreciates the new metal twinging wringf'" on the Vortex. You'll lib lt too. You will not be obligate d JOUR NAL Draper News Argenti na has been seeking to obtain Utah eggs, but owing to our shortage of supply we .have not been able to serve that country. It is safe to say that the America n produce rs who delibera tely set out to win the Argentin ian's confiden ce and to establish a reputati on for giving 100 per cent value, will be the ones who in years to come will derive both the bulk and the cream of the business to be had from this great and prospero us nation. The Argentin e poultry raiser meets one form of competi tion which the America n poultrym en will never have to face. Across the country' s broad plains which are used chiefly for cattle and sheep grazing, ostriche s run wild. It is not at all uncomm on for the ranchme n and farmers to stumble over their nests. Whereup on while the simple minded ostrich hurries off to a nearby sand bank to sink his head into obscurit y, the eggs, quite conspicu ous by their size, become easy picking. One ostrich egg will do the work of ten of the barnyar d calibre. Furthermor e, as a novelty ·on the banquet table, its advanta ges are not to be overlook ed. The approve d mode of preparat ion is to boil the egg, then place it in a three-pr onged holder and knock a hole in its top with a hammer. After which the salt, pepper, butter and other ing;edie nts for seasoning are added and the entire contents of the shell are vigorous ly scramble d with a t;poon. The holder is tlhen placed on a tray to be passed among the diners, each of whom applies a spoon to the shell's interior and extracts a helping in accordan ce with his taste for scramble d ostrich fruit and the capacity of his abdomen . Another interesti ng factor peculiar to the poultry industry • of the Argentine is the presence of a strain of fowls whiclh produce s eggs of light blue colo.r. In all essentia l respects such as size, shape and flavor they offer no advanta ges or disadvan tages over the common white shelled variety. Nor are they given any preferen ce from the standpo int of edibility in the eyes of domestic consume rs. The breed which produces these eggs is indigeno us to Argenti na and is quite common. Yet despite the color of the eggs, the birds themselv es do not seem to possess any distingu ishing features . Some are entirely black, some brown and black and some red and black. And there is the same variatio n in size. Some full grown fowls are only as large as a fair-size d Leghorn , while others reach the proporti ons of a Plymout h Rock. Moreove r, some have single and some double combs. Only in the color of the eggs do the various member s of tlhe specie have a ·bond in common . . A Pig Weaned is One-Thi rd Done .' Manage ment of breeding herds is a big factor in the hog business . This branch of the work, accordin g to the United States departm ent of agricul.ture, accounts for about one-thir d of iJhe cost of producin g hogs. One way to cut costs is t(} increase the size of the litter weaned. A study of hog producti on costs in Humbol dt county, Iowa, covering spring pigs raised in 1924 showed that the net cost per pig, when less than four pigs were weaned per sow bred, was $5.09, compare d with only $3.77 when six or more pigs were weaned per sow bred. Figures -~--il-llllliiiiiiiiiiiiiii.••••••••••••••l for 1922 show a greater diffe.rence. No Grocery Bill for Skaggs Patrons People who put·chase their foods on credit are frequen tly tempte d to buy extravagantly . They often buy things which do not supply a fair amoun t of food value for the money, high-pr iced items which they would neven have purcha sed if tiley were laying down the money at the time. This is one reason why the grocery bill is usually larger than expecte d. .And, of course, the credit store is obliged to charge more because of this extra expens e for making collection s and to offset bad debts. Thrifty people who trade ait Skaggs stores do not have to worry about a grocery bill at the end of the month. They mak~ their selectio ns and pay for them at the time of purcha se, buying just what they want and need. They usually plan their require ments ahead, and are therefo re able to obtain the pick of the marke t and at the most favorab le prices.
