Marketing Utah turkeys under the "Rocky Mountain Brand" last year did much to stimulate buyer interest in Utah turkeys and to assure a future strong demapd, in the opinion of Albertus Willardson ~ce president and field manager, who 1 ' handles most of the turkey pool negotiations. The eastern markets have found, eveA in a short time, that the Utah turkefs are of superior quality and are dependable. Indications are that the Uintah Basin will come back into line this year a.s the principal turkey section of the state. Millard and Sanpete counties promise to produce a larger volume of turkeys this seasop than last. Another section of importance is the Box elder and Cache county :region of northern Utah. Conditions in the Uintah Basin are • ideal for turkey raising on a large scale a,nd the Association is seeking to develop the industry to its fullest in that region. With large alfalfa fields and plenty of grazing land, turkeys thrive and develop exceptional quality in the Basin, and in the past years turken from that region have beeA among the best sellers from the state. "The Big Parade" will close a four day showing at the Diana with the Saturday evening run. This film is one of the biJr&"eSt attractions in the country at the present time and Midvale should certainly be proud of the DIANA management for bringing the picture here at such an early date and showing it at the rock bottom price of nO cents. Ma.ny paid $2.00 in larger cities to see it. Sunday and Monday Great Neck, New York, policP. and fire .headquarters were swamped with telephone calls one eventful evening. Everybody wanted to know where tbla fire was and whv an alarm hadn't been rung. No information was forth comins;t" until a motorcycle policeman investigated. He reported that Thornas Meighan and Renee Adoree werE' saying good bye to each other u,nder the trees on the•Kensington estat... The excitement was caused by the shooting of a scene for ''Tin Gada" Mr. Meighan's ,new Paramount picture which arrives at the DIANA on Sunday a.nd Monday. · The story's script calls for Miss Adoree to leavP Tom's cabin by walkinJr down a hill through the trees. To get the proper eft'ect, director Allan Dwan ordered a battery of lights from the Long Island Studio and a gang of men to hold magnesiuJJl flares. Sun arcs were turned toward low ha.nging clouds to reflect the proper amount of liJrht. Others were used in creating moon shadows. The effect from a distance was surprising to sa7 the least. Tuesday and W edne.day Give a clever pantomimist five minutes before a film camera---then aee the result. That's the challenge of Eddie Cantor, Broadway musical comedy star, who will appear at the DIANA Thea~ tre Tuesday and Wed,nesday in Para·· mount's screen story of Ziegfeld's com edy "Kid Boots." The Broadway star came to • the Paramount studio after a successful run of three years on Broadway because he was confident that motion pictures offered great possibilities for presenting comedy• "If you've seen 'Kid Boots" on the stage by all means see it o" the screen, ftJr tJi! Thursday and Friday Lakes that breathe, canyops with triple echoes, twelve-pronged deer with charmed lives and herds of wild horses;-these are some of the fascinating features of the California Sierras country photographed by Direc· tor John Waters' motion picture company in making Paramount's "Ma" of the Forest" from Zane Grey's novel. which will be shown at the DIANA on Thursday and Friday. At one point, eleven thousand feet above sea level, from which several shots were take", thirteen mountain lakes are visible, within a radius of twenty-five miles. They might be dubbed Chromatic, or Spectrum Lakes because they are variously called Red, Purple and Blue Lake. At sunrise and sunset they take on the colors for which they are named. One of them rises and falls as if it were breathing and scientists are searchipg for volcanic oor glacial influences to explain the phenonomen. On these meadows, high up in the hills, roam great herds of wild horses, which are being systematically converted. They are drivep to lowTand corrals, loaded into cars and sent to the coast. This is the sort of wild country that forms a background fcJr Zane Grey's Some few weeks ago the Ross Rizzuto Pool Hall on Main Street in Midvale was entered via the back entranc and cigarettes and tobaccos and some cash stolen. Arms.strong and his Crimson gridiron warriors will begin to cavort around on Cummings Field in their pightly work outs in preparation for the opening game of the season, against the Colorado School of Mines on October 1st. While som~ of the men have been tossing the old oval around for several days, po official practice may be ordered by the Crimson mentor until the first conference school opens, on September 6th. Ike will have Vadal Peterson, Ben Lingenfelter and possibly Cal Boberg to assist him in the first conditioping process of the year. Peterson, who comes to the university from L. D. S. U. should be a valuable man to Ike. Lingenfelter has assisted with the coaching during the past two years, and the value of his work is proven.
