The third annual inspection for Distlnguished College ranking of R. 0. '1.'. C., units in the lJnited States was conduetad last week at the University of Utah. Last year and the year be· fore the University of Utah was awarded this honor. Selection is annually made by the '!Yar Department of the United States government. 'l'hls departlllent sends two regular mcm· bers of the staff at Wushington to the schools in which R. 0. T. C. units are located. Judging Is based on the efficiency of practical and theoretical instructions, the faclll ties for teaching the subject the equipment available and the attitude of the faculty and the student body of the school to\Vards the subject. The University of Utah unit contains a full quota of 600 members, the largest voluntary unit in the third army area. There is an instructing group of five captains and one major on the .staff retained at the University by the United States government. Graduates of the !SChool having carried courses in this department during their full four years are awarded, upon graduation, a <.'Ommlssion of Second Lieutenant 0 in the Field Artillery Branch of the Officers' Reserve corps.
