Hilttop October 16. 1997 Persons with Disabilities Luncheon features Steve EVlikita, assistant Utah attorney general, who hasn't let muscular dystrophy stop him The 10th annual Persons with Disabilities Luncheon is Oct. 23, 11 a.m., at the Officers Club, Bldg. 150. Employ-ee- s wishing to attend the function can do so without charge to leave as time and mission requirements permit, according to a letter from Ogden Air ment Award from the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Communicator of the Year Award from the International Association of Business Communicators, and the Public Relations Society of America. His autobiography, "The Third Opinion," is due out later this year. The menu for the luncheon is baked ham Hawaiian. Tickets are $8 and are on sale through Monday. Logistics Center commander, Maj. Gen. Rich Roellig. Guest speaker is Steve Mikita, assistant Utah attorney general. Mikita was born with muscular dystrophy and his doctors didn't expect him to live to his second birthday. At age 4, Mikita was shown a picture of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in a wheelchair and was inspired to do as much as he could in his life in spite of his disability. He was the first wheelchair freshman at Duke University, and also a law clerk for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.
