Russell Hilltop Times staff Hill AFB's new crisis hotline has fielded its first calls, and is well on its way to becoming an integral part of the base Fire Department's workload. Call NO HASSLE of by Teri Gibby Hill AFB Suggestion Office Don't be frustrated if you receive a suggestion to evaluate. It's pretty simple really. An evaluator needs to approve, disapprove or request more time to evaluate a suggestion during the initial suspense period. If you need more time, simply complete an AFMC Form 605, Suggestion Evaluation Extension Request, giving the reason for the delay. Then forward the form to your suggestion monitor. The suggestion monitor will forward the form to the Suggestion Of ficeQI) which will, in turn, send a copy of the form to the suggester. By submitting an AFMC Form 605, the suggestion you are evaluating will not become overdue and the suggester is kept informed of the status of his or her idea. If a suggestion is allowed to become overdue, it sends a message to our suggesters that management does not take their ideas seriously. Don't let that happen. If you can't provide a final approval or disapproval, you should request more time. You may ask for as much time as you will need, as long as you give valid reason for the delay. With each new request for time, you should provide an update so that the suggester can see that the evaluation is progressing. Not all suggestions are delayed, as the November 1995 award winners can tell you. At the top of the list was a suggestion from Donald E. Wayman of the Aircraft Directorate. Wayman's idea to remove repairable nose wheel steering parts from F-- aircraft to supply the parts to foreign countries saved the Air Force $284,640 and netted him $4,623.
