A Hill AFB sergeant has been named one of the Air Force's 12 outstanding airmen of the year for 1990. Sgt. Brant C, Bushnell of the 2892nd Distribution Squadron was announced as one of the winners of the Air Force's most prestigious enlisted award. The award is presented annually by the Air Force to its 12 best enlisted members. Candidates are judged on leadership, job performance and which includes social, cultural and religious activities. Sergeant Bushnell received the announcement Tuesday from visiting Air Force Logistics Command commander Gen. Charles C. McDonald. General McDonald announced the award at a gathering of Hill workers and civic leaders from " Dayton, Ohio. The crowd's enthusiastic response to the announcement only intensified Sergeant Bushnell's shock. Like everyone else in the room, he was hearing it for the first time. "My heart stopped," Sergeant Bushnell said later, "but it made me feel good." Sergeant Bushnell said he will represent the Air Force as a spokesman and serve on the Air Force Association's enlisted advisory council for a year. He and the 11 other winners will officially receive their awards at the AFA's annual conin Washington, D.C. vention Sept.
