Both the HiU AFB Officers' Wives' Club and the Hill Noncommissioned Officers' Wives' Club will award scholarships to qualified high school seniors. The event is open to all officers' wives and officers' club members and guests. Cost is $15 per person. To be eligible for the scholarships, high school seniors must rank in the upper 25 percent Of their class and be a bonafide unmarried Air Force dependent of an active duty or retired service member. They may not be older than 21 years of age. "Seniors attending public, preparatory or parochial high school in the area are eligible to compete for the scholarships regardless of their sponsor's rank," Mrs. Messamore said. "Applicants must have already applied to the college of their choice." Seniors accepting a four-yea- r scholarship, or an OWC scholarship from another base are not eligible. The recipients must attend one of the schools in Weber, Davis, Morgan or Salt Lake County. The selection criteria are based on the student's grades, extracurricular activities and financial needs. Mrs. Bowen warns students that they may not accept the scholarship if they are planning to attend one of the military academies or have already been selected for a four-yeascholarship.
