BlaS Alleged Libel. Charles Lowe, of Wellsville, Cache County, commenced suit in the Third District Court yesterday aa' n t tbe Salt Lake Herald Company, claiming $25,000 damage for alleged libel. The Herald published a correspondence purporting to give the facts in an alleged case of adultery against Mr. Lowe. Mr. Groo, of the Herald, waa subpoenaed as a witness in a criminal libel suit against Mr. Snow, of Brig-haCity, who is charged with having written the correspondence referred to. Immediately on arriving he visited St Mary's Hospital and on stepping outj down the (steps sprained his ankle severely. He retired to his room in the White House at about 8:30, suffering more or less pain from the accident, although when witness and Messrs. Spaldins: and Ss.it. retired at 9:30, they all had been drinking and were feeling say and Greene joined heartily in laughing with the rest. Did not know that Greene was seriously ill till it was announced by Dr. Richards woocaine in to attend him late last night. Mr. Greene died at about 4 a. m. today, Dr. Riehards said from the effects of morphine. Witness understood that it was administered by a.young man in the hotel did not know his name. The doctor said he was sent for by the young man who administered the medicine. Dr. A. S. Bower said he war called about 12 midnight and found Dr. Richards in attendance. In his early years he moved toTUlackmannan where he resided until 1848, when he joined the Church of Saints, and late 4esus Christ of Latter-dain the fall of the same year emigrated to St Louis. After a lapse of about one year he moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, where for about two years he shared the inclemenciee that other Saints endured. Here he was ordained a Teacher. In 1852 he came to Salt Lake City, taking up his abode in the Fourth Ward, where he has resided ever since. Since his arrival here he has been or daincd an Elder and a High Friest, which ofllce lie held till his" death. He died as he had lived, an honest, upright, faithful Lat ter-daSaint, in fulf hopes of coming forth in the first reSftrrection. In the year 1830 he married Helen Sharp, who died in this city Feb. 21, 1883, and was the father of 12 children, 47 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, all of whom are in full faith and fellowship in the same Church.
