The May numbar of The Cosmopolitan, a new family magazine that is published in Rochester, New York, by Messrs. Schlioht & Field, Is excellent. The variety, brevity, and Intrinsic worth of the articles, and the beauty of the four full page illustrations, will attract attention. The number opens with a tine story entitled "Mrs. Hetty's Husband," by Harriet Pre&Qtt Spof-for- d, followed by & ptrong, lucid and popular article entitled, "A Word About Silver," by Edward Q. Bourne. The article that will excite most attention is an illustrated one by Miss Viola Iioseborough, oq "The Children's Industrial Exhibition,'? held recently in New York. Mrs. May Ritey Smith's poem entitled "Love's Seas ns," will be read with pleasure by lovers of fine poetry. Mrs. Elizabeth Cady Stanton's article entitled "Miss Cleveland's Line" is a striking discussion of the question of low ueck dresses. Besides Miss Spofford's story, the number coutaius three other short stories and several miscellaneous articles. The Young Folks department Is sure to please the youuger members of thd family, and iu the eight articles in the Household department, the housewife will find much Interesting and valuable iuformation. . : . IOCAL. NEWS. Not Suitable. We have received the copy pi remaiks, written in verse, delivered by a young lady before a conjoint meeting of the Young Men's and Young Ladies' Improvement Assoc at Kicbfield, 'Sevier County. It is accompanied by & request to publish. The reason for Its in this Journal is that, although admirably suited to the purpose !or which it was originally composed, it Is hardly so for these columns. ia-tlo- ns ce Look Out. W. C. Hawkins, of Marsh Valley, Idaho, informs us that the crops in that section ar'e in a very unpromising condition, and the probability is that Ithey will be at least a partial failure. We would be pleased to have brief statements 1n relation to the crops from each section of the Territory. Such' information would doubtless beofiisc in governing the grangers in the disposal of grain. These are times when the people had better keep their eyes open and "look a little out." s 4- -- 'Well Doue. Yesterday it was stated by the Nkws that Mrs. Eminence B, Wells, editor of the Exponent, bad returned from a protracted visit to the East. We were unadvised until the paper went to press; that Dr. Ellen B. Ferguson returned home at the same time, both ladies having been associated in the same mtssiou. They spent most of the time of their absence In Washington, working in the interest of the women of Utah. From all sources of iuforinalion that have reached us on the subject, they Inve doue their duty thoroughly and intelligently. The result.of the efforts caunot fail Of Delng Koori.
