After reading the minute the reports of standing committee were taken up, cording to the ne rule of order. BEPOBTS ac- OF COMMITTEES. The committee on la reported favoring the acceptance of Capital avenue. Report adopted. The committee on claim reported favorably on a number of bills. Report adopted. The committee on street reported that in certain part of the city, mainly in the reaidenos part, sidewalk oould be laid of stone flagging at leaat 2l, inche thick, or of vitrified brick, tar uphaltum laid two feet from the property line and ix feet wide. The committee on sewer and on law reported that they bad investigated the street proposed sewer on Twenty-sixt- h and found that a majority of the property owners were not represented in the protest against the sewer and reported favoring the sewer. Dee favored postponing action for one week as it was probable that if the ordinance was pasted the property owners on Twenty-sixtstreet would take the matter into the court, and an arrangement might be reached by which the eewer on Linooln and Grant which favored the sewer oould be built. The report was adopted, Dee voting h no. SEWERS OS THE BENCH. The same committees reported on the iro posed new sewer district on the ench and favored building sewers on Twenty fourth acd Twenty fifth from Washington to Quincy and on the croas avenues excepting Adams and Monroe where a majority of property owners are opposed to it. Dee was opposed to this sewer tax in view of the fact that so many of the gentlemen who signed the protest were public spirited gentlemen wno had done so much to build up the town and men now bave their hands full of enterprises for the good of the city, notably D. 1L Peery E. A. Reed and J. A. Boyle. Cannon thought that the wealth and social standing of a protester had noth ing to do with the case. It was a mat ter of front feet. Allison thought that a poor man was entitled to even more consideration than rich one. The report was adopted, Dee voting no, and on motion of Allison was referred to the oity surveyor to make proper estimates en tne two sewers and report same for the benefit of the city attorney in drafting the ordinances. The Oolden Hour club was given the use of Lester Park Pavilion for July PETITIONS. The citizens of Five Points sent in hearty protest against the old rattle traps of sprinklers accorded them for sprinkling Washington north of the river. Referred to the committee on water supply. n A plat of Capital Hill was submitted for approval. Referred to city attorney and city engineer. Hugo Defrizen asked that something be done with Weber canal to prevent the water from injuring the foundation of the building he is erecting. Referred to the committee on streets. W. C. McLaughlin asked to be ap pointed a member of the police force. Kelerred to the police commission. THE CHINESE QUESTION. About twenty produce dealers asked for the passage of an ordinance requiring the Chinese fruit and vegetable dealers to pay an annual license. Referred to the committee on licenses. Thos. D. Dee in behalf of the democratic committee asked for the use of the city hall for Wednesday, July 15th. Petition granted. ORDINANCES AND RESOLCT IONS, An ordinance to promote the general health of Ogden City waa made for the second time. Elliott introduced a resolution requiring the city marshal to report any case of violations of city ordinances and why the offenders have not been arrested and dealt with according to law. Speaking to the resolution Elliott said that it was currently reported that this council was not enforcing the laws as well as the last council. If this is so the council ought to know why it- - is so and by what authority the police authorities are not enforcing the ordinances The resolution was passed by an unanimous aye and nay vote. The matter of lumber yards in the tire limits was referred to the city attorney and the committee on laws. City attorney reported the heirs of the Sprunt estate had made deeds to the city for the land necessary for opening west Thirtieth streets. The council Teachers' Examination. B.-.- l placed fmy little daughter Segrid, aged 10, under the treatment of your emi nent staff of physicians and surgeons on the 8th of June. She had baen atllicted with almost total deafness, accompanied by severe pain in her ear, for the past five years, caused by a severe attaca of measles, when only 5 years old. After about ten day's treatment the doctors removed the remains ot a large polypus tumor from her ears, and since that time she has been improving so rapidly that at the present her heariug is as good as anyone's, with no recurrence ot the pain. I am exceedingly grateful to yourself and physicians and hope that you may continue in your 'successful efforts to relieve afflicted humanity. It became so bad that my eyesight was affected to such an extent that I oould not see to write or figure. I could not tell a white horse fron a black one. My ears were also affected with cracking and roaring sounds. I have traveled extensively through the United States, have tried every remedy I oould find, have been examined in four large cities by eminent specialists, and continued to get worse, until I feared I Cured a New and Pleasant Method. Prof. Wm. Windsor, LL. B. Dear Sir: I bave been under your treatment for catarrh for about ten days, and am now delighted to report results. My breathing, which was entirely stopped through my nostrils, is now absolutely free and unobstructed. I am entirely free from the disagreeable symptoms. and feel like I had a new lease on life. Previous to taking your treatment I had used thirty bottles of Shiloh's catarrh remedy, several dozen bottles of Sage's, twenty-sevebottles of Hall's and Ely'n cream balm for years, and have speta hundreds of dollars, without relief; but your treatment has accomplished success in ten day.
