Pat-toand to investigate the matter a reporter for The Comheecxal called upoo Mr. IL C Gilbert, the aect of the Company, in thia city. Mr. Gilbert denied the truth of the rumor but stated that bia Company were figuring upon a large tract of land in thia city for which abstract were cow being made, and that they would undoubtedly infest between 1120,000 and 1300,000 in acreage property here before they had completed their deal Thia will be a matter of great importance to the real estate fraternity of thia city aa the work of thia strong company in improving and Belling off this property will undoubtedly largely advertise the city and will bring an immense amount of capital into the city. Mr. Gilbert also spoke of the work on the electric railroad, lleaaid that the company had nearly completed the equipment, of the old system of street railway and would shortly hare it in operation. Thewoikon the new road will not be commenced until the city council see fit to adjust the matter of the franchises of the two companies. However, as soon as that matter is settled, and the suits now pending in court are out of the way, the company now 6tand ready to build and equip as complete and perfect an electric system of street railway line as exists in the United States. It is to be hoped that an early settlement of the difficulties may be obtained, for if ever a city needed a good system of electric cars, Ogden is that city. Street car service would do more to build up and increase values in out-sid- e additions than any other one thing. Many people in Ogden are now living in boarding nouses and hotels who would be glad to move into their own houses out on the bench, in the best parts of the city, were there means of transportation to and from business.
