New Bkcxswicx, Feb. 21 Caal Missionary Edward Yanderherchen has resigned his place, and also has withdrawn from the First Methodist church. It is alleged that his wife went away last August for medical treatment and that while abe was gone a young girl came here from Newark to visit relatives in tbe same house. The missionary had known the girl before her arrival, and soon after, it is said, he gave ber a note, in which he asked ber to meet him in tbe suburbs of the town, as he wished to talk with her. She showed the note to a relative, who advised her not to meet him. Then the relative went out walking with tbe girl His wife heard of tbe walk, and he showed her Vanderberchen'a note to ex plain his purpose in taking the girl away on a walk. Then tbe matter was given to the church authorities, who asked Vauder- berchen for an explanation. He ad' mitted writing tha note, but aaid he was innocent of any wrong intentions, and that he could not say much, as he did not desire to bnmr his wife into the affair. He was advised to resign, and he did so. Ho will probably leave town. He received no letter of dismissal from his church. A A Eevolutionary Court House Sold. Norwich, Feb. 23. The famous old "Court House" at Norwich Town Green, which was erected in 1761, and for the last fifty years used for a school house for the Town Street District school, was sold by auction on Monday to Daniel W. Benjamin, a Wauwecus Hill farmer, tor ?J0. The old court house has often been called the Faoeuil Hall of Con necticut since within it was heard the tlrst public protest against the British stamp act snd that was embodied in resolutions adopted by a gathering of Norwich citizens in the building soon after the act was passed. With the news that the measure had been enacted a packet of the obnoxious stamps was received in this town. After the meeting of citizens the Norwich people threw the stamps into the street. Some time ago the Sons of the Revolution ot this town wanted to buy the relio and locate it on the historio town green, repair and adorn it and use it for a town hall, museum, and library, but the dwellers in that quarter fiercely op posed the project lo get rid of the bouse the district ottered it for public sale. It is the purpose of Mr. Benjamin, so it is said, to trundle the building to his farm, three miles away, and use it for a hennery. . James Marrow's Suicide. Danbcry, Conn., Feb. 23.
