I welcome information on waste, fraud and abuse, and assure you that each lead will be thoroughly investigated. Maj. Gen. Marc C. Reynolds Commander, Ogden ALC Base curfew was wondering why the base does not a curfew, for children under 18 years of age. Wouldn't it cut down on vandalism and mischief if one were initiated? QI A Security Police records show that those crimes normally consider child related are low on Hill AFB, even during the evening ; hours. For that reason I feel that parents' rights to exercise control of their children in the evening should be honored. Some children under the age of 18 have jobs such as babysitting which necessitate their being out even after midnight. The Security Police Crime Prevention Section is currently working on trends of vandalism on Hill and is actively setting up a Neighborhood Watch Program to be presented to housing residents this spring. Q ext. 77000 phone call through the morning of the 19th. Why can't the hospital schedule one week at a time so that there isn't such a backlog of people who have to call in on the first day the calendar is open? Routine pediatric appointments are A uled four weeks in advance, as directed by the chief of pediatric services. It is felt that a sched- monthly schedule of appointments is a more k cient and workable system than a Hospital appointments ; plore this area to acquire white reflective gloves and stay within AFR 35-1- 0 standards. The possibility of the use of flashlights was also explored. An active duty person and his dependents are empaneled with a family practice group where appointment waiting times are generally short. Eligible family members are encouraged to utilize their family practice providers. With regard to telephone access, on the day the appointment books open for the following month there, are always far more callers than there are telephone lines or operators. We are currently in the process of adding four additional phone lines (one for active duty only) and one additional operator for our busiest hours. Gate directions At night it is very hard to understand what direction the gate sentry is giving as it is difficult to see his hand in the dark. Would it be possible to have the sentries wear white gloves or use flashlights so that their Q directions would be more visible in the dark? Upon calling the hospital to make an appointment for my child, we were told that the appointment books were closed for that month and that they would open again on the 19th. We found it close to impossible to get a Fbrvary 17, 1984 At the present time, the gate sentries are wearing a highly reflective vest to better their visibility to motorists entering and exiting the gates. A work order is also being processed to add additional lighting to the Southwest Gate to increase visibility there.. However, providing gate sentries reflective gloves is an ex- A tremely good idea and Security Police will ex-- am concerned about the UTA bus route this base. It seems the buses are led a through maze in the west area that is difficult to manipulate. Often the buses are breaking down making it necessary to walk sometimes more than a mile. Why was the route altered from the more effective route it used previously? QI A UTA was contacted by the SP Base Traf- fic Planner and a review of the bus routes was conducted by the UTA route supervisor and the Base Traffic Planner. The only route change since this past summer was in the west area along Cedar Street. This route had to be changed to Dogwood Street because of construction at Bldgs. 1274 and 1275 and the closing of Aspen Street at the south entrance to Lot 110. During this unusually heavy winter, UTA has put extra buses on their Hill AFB routes for backups during the afternoon runs for the convenience of their riders. Sometimes even the best plans do not work; that is, longer than usual start times for buses that have been sitting most of the day during the cold weather. The supervisors and bus operators are trying very hard to keep on schedule. Delays of 10 to 15 minutes are rare, even in this cold weather. Route information or assistance can be obtained by contacting Randy Parks, UTA supervisor at 262-562- 6.
