Show HILL TOP TIMES Fridoy,' Februory 3, 1984 news briefs 7 Annual compensation statement What do Air Force military members really earn in pay and benefits? That's the question the Air Force Accounting and Finance Center in Denver will answer with its annual statement of compensation to be mailed to each member this week. This statement, using the most recent pay data, has three parts. Part One describes all direct forms of pay, such as basic pay, and housing and meal allowances. Special-dut- y , pay such as flight, hazardous-dut- y and proficiency pay are also included. Part Two outlines indirect compensation. This includes retirement pay, health-car-e benefits and the survivor benefit program. The last part of the statement shows some of the other benefits available to Air Force members and their families. Commissary and base exchange privileges are two such benefits. The statement is not a new idea, according to Doug Abbotts of the finance center. Civilian companies, such as those in the auto industry, have been using similar statements for more than five years, he says. Mr. Abbotts feels the statement clearly shows how valuable a military career is, and the Air Force is making it clear to its members what an Air Force career is really worth.
