Lamb Board and Members-Pa- t Rimpau, Rondo T. Farrer, and G. Brent Edwards. , Also w ere Superintendent present Carl M. Holmes, Assistant X Utah CoHtoj Ccllee This years Utah Cowboy College is going to be held August 1 8 and 19 in Delta, Utah. This is the second year the meeting has been held. The college is open to affiliated with the beef anyone industry. The college is an educational seminar that will help Utah producers stay abreast of the changes occurring in the industry, from marketing to animal health. This years agenda will be more informative thought provoking and challenging than ever before. Dr. Don Nelson, Beef Specialist from Washington State University, will be addressing the producers on the findings of the National Audit Beef Quality conducted Colorado State by University and Texas A & M University. Dr. H. W. Nielsen states, "I heard Don Nelson speak in Denver at a meeting for the academy of veterinary consultants. He is a very dynamic and interesting speaker. He really keeps you on the edge of your seat." Dr. Nelson will be speaking on commodity fat trim, conformity of animals, biological types of cattle that fail to conform, etc. Dr. Scott McGregor, feedlot and beef production veterinary consultant, will also speak to the general assembly on "Ranch to rail, what are your options." Dr. McGregor knows the beef industry's health problems and financial challenges now facing the cattlemen. A range tour will be given the morning of August 18. The Utah Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative is sponsoring the tour. The tour will help identify critical elements needed to improve Utah's grazing land including best management practices. There will also be some fun activities such as a golf tournament, and a steak fry and entertainment. This year animal health allied groups will have booths on display to show new products. We hope to have as many producers attend this year as last. We had approximately 50 from all over the state. The Utah Farm Bureau and Utah Cattlemens Associations have been a great support. This is a it educational program. software, - d 864-392- 1. non-prof- Obituaries Jimmy Martin Sherwood Martin Jimmy 77, passed away in Cedar City. 1995 2, August He was born on February 19, 1918 in Minersville, Utah to Martin Van Buren and Laura Davis Sherwood. He married Robinson on January Marjorie Milford: Sherwood. 15, 1944 in Reading, Berkshire. England. Jim was a Veteran who served in the Army in the Engineering Corp in Europe. He Was Very Involved with the VFW, having served as the State Commander of Utah. He Was retired from the Union Pacific Railroad were he was an Engineer. He enjoyed farming. He was a good husband and a father and grandfather and enjoyed his family. He 15 Survived by his wife Marjorie of Milford. Children, Bryan & Linda Sherwood of Las Vegas. Linda & John Conway of Tooele and Laura & David Alleman of Corpus Christie, Texas. 12 Great & 24 Grand Grandchildren; Sisters, Rhoda Ballou & Mabel & Ernest Beebe of Porterville. Ca.; Donna & Boyd Burnham of Sandy; and Hazel & Jay Rogers of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nora & Eva, and one great grandchild, Hillary. Funeral Services Will be held on Saturday. August 5, 1995 at 1:00 P.M. in the Milford LDS 2nd Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Olpin Mortuary on Friday Evening from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. and on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 A M.. Interment will be in the Milford Cemetery under the direction of Olpin Mortuary. Norman J. Muir St George: Norman J. Muir, age 67 passed away at his home in St. George July 20, 1995 of cancer. He was born December 5, 1927 in Beaver, Utah to Ernest Alfred and Leonora Taylor Muir. He was a veteran of World War II. A member of the Elks Lodge in Cedar City. He owned and operated Circle Sales & Rentals, Inc. in St. family George. Surviving members include his wife, Judy of St. George, children, Pat (Nancy) Baker of St. George. Esther Jane Carter of Las Vegas a Layne Muir of St George. Nine and two great grandchildren. Sisters, Mrs. Evans (Roberta) Neilson of Provo, Utah, Mrs. Harvey (Allie) Mecham of Orem, Utah. & Mrs. Dale (Fay) Harris of Beaver, Utah. Brothers Mr. Russel Muir of Las Vegas and Nile Muir of Lake Tahoe, Nv. He was preceded in death by one son grand-childr- en F-1- -- file. S.B. 34, Retirement Service Conversion and Credit Amendments was discussed and it was moved by Pat Rimpau, seconded by G. Brent . Superintendent Donald J. Business and Willden. R. Nicholas Manager . Ice by Pat Rimpau, and unahimousty passed that the 1 994-9- 5 budget be adjusted to those figures and that the shown on Form 6 1995- budget as shown on the same form be adopted and placed-o- r. seconded Edwards, and unanimously passed that the district not participate. Will not effect the current retirement Dotson. The meeting was called to order at 10:00 A.M. and an invocation was offered by Nicholas R. Dotson. 2. It was moved by G. Brent Edwards, seconded by Norman L. system. 9. Negotiations were discussed and reviewed. It was moved by Norman L. Lamb, seconded by G. Brent 1. Edwards, and unanimously passed that the teachers salaries be raised 4.25 on the base, olus increments and lane changes, that they may choose between Health Choice and Care Plus Medical Insurance, and that they, work eight hours per day with reasonable individual schedules being worked out with the respective principals. Will also work out a reasonable system for the awarding of college credit toward lane changes. Phillip Jessup has resigned as custodian at Beaver High School, effective June 30, 1995. Hiring a replacement was discussed and it was moved by Rondo T. Farrer, seconded Lamb, and unanimously passed that the minutes of June 6, 1995, be approved. 3. It was moved by Norman L. Lamb, seconded by Rondo T. Farrer, and unanimously passed that the bills be approved. 4. Cliff Lawrence, Construction and Attorneys Jerry Manager, Jensen and Mark Poulsen met with the board to discuss a problem with one of the contractors who is in default for failure to perform on the Beaver High School building. M.T. mechanical the Enterprises, contractor, has been notified that their contract with the district has been terminated and that the District will look to their bonding company for funding to finish the project. Mr. and both Lawrence attorneys addressed the board as to the legal proceedings in this matter and other possibilities that might take place if the problem ends up in the courts. L & L Mechanical Contractors of St. George have been hired to finish the Beaver High project and appears to be doing a very good job. 5. Don Carrol representing the Utah State Department of Corrections met with the board and reviewed the role of the adult probation and parole agency and how the court system functions. 6: Budget Hearing 2:00 P.M. This being the time set for Public Hearing to' consider theJ 1995-9- 6 budget and proposed 1994-9- 5 the budget and no adjusting one appearing to comment on the current and proposed budgets and the board having examined the budget, it was moved by Rondo T. Farrer, by Pat Rimpau, and unanimously passed that Brent Oldroyd be hired to replace Mr. Jessup. Brent has been working as a regular bus driver and substitute custodian during the last school year. 11. Policy manual reviewed and workshop will be held July 27th, 6:30 P.M. at the District Office. 12. Surplus property sale will be held at Milford High, July 29th at 10:00 A.M 13. Community Impact Funding reviewed. Will submit an application before the middle of September. 14. It was moved by Norman L. Lamb, seconded by Rondo T. There being no further business to come before the board, the meeting was adjourned at 5: 1 5 P.M. 1 and one granddaughter. Funeral services was held Thursday at 10:00 A.M. grave side at the Mountain View Cemetery. Friends called on Wednesday Aug 2, 1995 from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the Olpin Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the cancer or heart association in St. George, Utah. "I'm getting $3.50 a day for the spaces, and paying $1.50 of it to the city," he said. Agreement with a previous city council was voided by terms of the new water and sewer rates which classes resolution, mobiles as a resident time the equivalent. "Every council changes, does that mean all of their policies go out the door with them?" he asked.
