Show The high light of the evening was the opening of presents from one Secret Sister to another. Some lovely items were unwrapped as well as one exceptional gag gift. To top the evening off several members entertained us with jokes and funny true stories. It was an evening to be remembered! On Monday the 19th, the Beta Upsilon Sorority held their annual Christmas party at the home of Gay Schow. Eadi year the members prepare stockings full of goodies and small gifts and deliver them to the Geriatric Patients. This year we also visited a few of the local shut-in- s bringing them not only a gift but some company. Upon returning to Gay's home we played the hilarious game "Out Burst" directed by Lisa Carter. Each member had brought a food item or beverage and the spread was enjoyed by all. BETA UPSILON RAFFLE The Beta Upsilon Sorority raffle prizes were won this year by; Kathy Acklin, a Nativity scene; Pat Nelson, a pair of Ceramic Geese; Lola Bridge, a Grape Vine Wreath featuring a goose and teddy bear. The wreath was created by member Shellie Singleton and the geese were donated by her mother, Virginia Edwards. President, Loretta Form an presented a prize to Brenda Selfers for selling the most tickets. The members of the Beta Upsilon wish to thank everyone who purchased raffle tickets. We would also like to say "Thank You" to Veda Cox and Dr. Mary Wiseman for purchasing our Christmas Tree via the Festival of Trees. BEAVER COUNTY f NEWS 5&0?56'S 5fcX5t S"X6 Thursday f December 29, 1988 4 MESSAGE TO A THIEF By Trudy Smith It has long been accepted that Christmas is for children. Though there is no definite age that says you are no longer a child, at thirteen one definitely is. It is also fact that the presents a child receives from her parents are special but a gift from a friend is extra special. So I believe you can realize the hurt that my daughter, Stacie, felt upon opening her school locker and finding the package ripped open and the white sweat shirt with "Coca Cola" written in red stolen. Because I feel that the thief may be too ashamed to admit what he or she did, I am asking the parents of whoever ends up with the shirt to please ask your child how it was aquired. Neither Stacie or I wish to embarrass anyone. If the shirt could be dropped off at the high school or even the library it would truly be appreciated. THANK YOU. Milford was glowing with Christmas spirit this year. The lighting displays were never more spectacular. There were so many generous gifts from the heart to so many who might have otherwise been forgotten. One might have thought an almost perfect holiday season, but alas there is a grinch among us! Our grinch stalks the cemetery. The creature picks and chooses among the memorial gifts to loved ones, placed there with loving hands. The grinch makes multiple visits to graves keeping watch for new remembrances as they appear. This sinister being makes visits at unusual hours such as the wee hours of Christmas morning, when you might think home and family would be more attractive to even a grinch. I would say to the grinch, you may never be caught in the act, but your acts of a most cruel sort of theft will one day be found upon a record you cannot deny. At a time when you will want every credit you can muster. You will then find who has been hurt most. Till then, grinch, we will continue to remember our departed loved ones in the ways that give us the most comfort and hope that you mature to the point that you, will learn to give rather than take from others. , Jackie Williams . Luciel Hardy., Our sincere wishes to you and your family for a home Blessed with Joy and Love throughout the New Year. From Jack & Joy ATTEHTI0H1! KIRK REALTY The Tigerettes will distribute the Christmas Calendars as soon as they arrive. May this brand New Year be your year to shine and an opportunity for us to know and serve you better.
