During the regular meeting of June 6, Councilman Mayer indicated to the Beaver County News that the above portions from the news report were incorrect, thus creating numerous phone calls and feedback to the City. Since this portion of our news article was a product based largely on Councilman Mayer's statements, the Beaver County News would like to quote the information verbatim, as it occurred on tape, relative to this topic at the May 16 Milford City Council Meeting: COUNCILMAN MAYER; "You guys go to your budget now. The hospital... I believe that your hospital should go back to where it was, that isoneokay, you can do it 2 ways. You could either charge 175 for school and 75 for sewer, or we can drop down for water to 75 which is the motel rate and a.be 75 and 75 and charge. them for irrigation separately. 75 & 75 is $150 a month. The reason I bring that figure up, they have phone agreed to purchase the where you dial 8 87 -- whatever and it will go right straight to Beaver. They're going to put that in and our cost per month is going to be $140." MAYOR MAYERs "Now so because in-li- ne we had a motion toioo 'I'd Uke COUNCILMAN MAYER: to make on JUNE 1, to start billing the hospital $75 a month for water and $75 a month for sewer.' During our most recent discussion concerning the above information, Councilman Mayer pointed out that the hospital wasnt paying for any water or sewer fees, and beginning JULY J, NOT JUNE 1, the City will start billing them $75 a month for water and $75 a month for sewer, not including the irrigation water. Attorney Kane 11 also clarified that the CITY is going to; purchase a S87 number that will, go to the Sheriffs Office in Beaver, instead of using the hospital in Mllford, thus reducing the need for that service. Hypothetical, If the News could have known to ask at least three pertinent juestlons during the original discussion on May 16, a correct translation ofCouncllmanMay-er'- s statements may have evolved. Another possibility would have been for Councilman Mayer to be a bit more explicit with the true meaning of his statements. We at the Paper openly apologize for any misunderstandings that were printed and ask if the City's phones could return to their usual quietness.
