The decath-alo- n was a 3 day event which the In various students competed subjects such as: Speech, Interview, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Literature, Fine Arts, Economics and a Super Quiz on the History of Flight. Mllford High placed well in the standing and it was a great experience for all the students. The students who competed in the decathalon were: Mike Long, Jamee Maxey, Tonya Bedingfield,Adrianne Cortee, Peter Yee, Leanne Yardley, Hollie Stewart, Tonya White and Amy Thompson. Their coaches were Mrs. McKeon and Mr. Swain. On Friday and Saturday it was Region Tournament for the basketball team. Mllford squared off against the E sealant e Moquls in their first game. The Tigers trailed the Moguls at halftime but came out firing in the second half. With eleven seconds left, Mllford had a score over Escalante. Wlllden of 80-was sent to the free throw line and sank two to five Mllford a five point lead. The Moquls pushed the ball down the court and took their shot but missed. Patterson brought down the rebound and was fouled as time ran out. Patterson sunk both free throuws, living Mllford a 84-victory. Leading scorers were Baxter -- 2 8, Wlllden-1- 8 and Patter-son-1- 5. She. was named after her mothers best friend, Alba GUllns, who was Rachel Eyres' mother. Alba was. at the Beaver County CourtShe had 10 children, 9 boys and 1 girl! He passed away in 196L When Albie gets the chance, she likes to go visit her 3 children, Bob, Dale and Don and their families in California. Her son, Neil, lives in Miner -svllle and her daughter, LaVaun, lives in Stockton, Utah. Albie Is fortunate to have a very close and caring family. Albie has kept busy over the years crocheting beautiful doilies, afg-ha- ns, and making fantastic quilts. She has received numerous ribbons at the fair for her lovely handicrafts. She has sold her doilies all over the western states. To sum up her life, Albie stated, "I've had a hard life, losing 5 children and 2 husbands, but I am thankful for what I have." Albie has been a hard worker all her life and we appreciate this special little lady at Home Health. She always has a smile and very seldom offers any complaints. Albie will celebrate her 92nd birthday on April 25th of this year and we hope it will be a memorable one. Thanks for being you, Albie! Die files' mm m Russ Williams - I Stacy Whittaker and Kerensa Coon were recently notified by Jackie Nokes, of the Utah State Fair, that they have placed third and fourth respectively, In the 1987 Utah State Fair Essay Contest. Both Whittaker and Coon received a cash award and a ribbon for their efforts. The two, along with their entire Seventh grade English class, entered the essay contest in September. 1003 students from 22 schools entered the contest and Stacy and Kerensa were judged among the finest young writers in the State.
