If you eet the munchies and want a between meal snack, choose a smart snack hue popcorn, nuts, fresh fruit and vegetables, oretzeis or cheese. Avoid the sugary snacks that can lead to tooth decay. Sweet foods should be reserved for meal times wten teeth can be brushed or at least rinsed right after eating. Soft drinks between meals should be sugar free. ,Your tooth brush Is a friend In the fight against decay but only If you use It. Brush In the morning at night and after meals to remove the sticky film called plaque that clings to your teeth. Although you can't see tt, plaque attacks your teeth with acid that causes tooth decay. If you can't always brush after you eat, rinse your mouth with water. When brushing, start your tooth brush toward your gum line and use a short back and forth scrubbing nrt: n. A worn out toothbrush cant do a good job of leaning your mouth. When the bristles start looking marked and frizzled, it's time for a new one. It's easy to remember if you get one every season, spring, summer, fall and winter. Pick one with soft bristles that's small enough to reach all spots In your mouth. It's even a good Idea to have more than one brush so you always have one with you at home, at work, at school, etc. Regular dental visits allow your dentist and staff to help keep when necessary, your your mouth clean and healthy. Using dentist can spot and fix small problems before they become big ones. And the dentist or hygenlst will show you the right way to brush and floss to remove plaque from your teeth. Some authorities say if you have time for only one, flossing Is more beneficial than brushing. No matter how hard you try to avoid them accidents do happen. If a tooth gets knocked out, don't panic! Rinse the tooth with water and put it back in place then get to the dentist as quickly as possible. Your dentist may put a splint on the tooth similar to one you'd get on a broken finger. If you receive a blow to the mouth and do not see any damage It's a good idea to visit your dentist anyway. He may find damage no one else can detect. Protect that beautiful smile. It's your passport to a happy life!
