Frank Carter, from Minersville is here spending a month to six weeks with his son. Bob and Ireen Carter. Ashley K. Selfers celebrated her 10th birthday this week. She had a slumber party Friday night with friends Jennifer Davis, Hollle Short, Angilyn Jenkins and Jessica Durham. And then on Saturday afternoon she had cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents come for Ice cream and cake. The High School Ski Club had an enjoyable time at Brian Head on Saturday. Students went up for a day of lessons and lots of fun, with Deb McKeon as the advisor. Students going were: Angle Hardy, Suzanne Morris, Karen Jensen, Scott Sullivan, Debbie Baxter, Christy Long, Eric Thomas, Shaun Kinross, MatMarshall, Laurel Bacon and Jill Mayer. Abby Carter also had a birthday this week. Abby celebrated her 5th birthday on Saturday. She and her family celebrated at home. New mutual students went to a "New Beginnings" Program held Saturday afternoon at the LDS Church. Girls were able to meet their leaders and get acquainted with what they will be doing. Beta Upsllon held their social for the month on Wednesday, January 16th. They enjoyed going out to dinner, then to a movie in Beaver. Other topics discussed were a pot luck dinner that will be given In honor of the New Woman of the Year, Bene Johnson. Mariam Jmb of the Beaver County Extension Office will be having a reupholstering and furnish refinishlng class starting the first of February. If anyone Is Interested in this class, you can call Vvs Baxter for more information. Randee and Mallna Mellor enjoyed a long weekend at her parents, Bill and Vernlece Warren, this past weekend. They left Thursday morning and returned home Sunday afternoon. While there they enjoyed a movie, shopping and celebrating her father's birthday. Marjorie Sherwood returnedre-centl- y from Hawaii after spending a month at Ewa Beach, Oahu with daughter Laura and her three daughters, Burgundy, Ashley andCassy. Laura's husband a Lt. Commander in the Navy Is at present serving In the Philllplnes and was unable to be there for the Christmas holidays. While there Laura, Marjorie and the children had a lovely visit with Donald Naruse, his wife Linda and their two children, Derek and Taya. Donald L-- stationed in Hawaii now. They ail spent a very pleasant evening together. The weather was beautiful - In the mid and high 70s, but there were a few days of rain. It was nice, though to be. able to go to the beach instead of digging out of the snow. They took many side trips, but a drive around especially nivi Cheap Thrills became even cheaper! ANN WILLIAMS Mary Ann Wllllmas has lived most of her life in Beaver and She is married to Greenville. C alien (Red) Williams and lives In Greenville. They are the parents of five children and have six grandchildren, who are the apple of their eye. They have one son, Chad, home with them as he is a junior in the high school, and are very proud of their son, Clifford, who is serving a mission in the Indianopolis, Indiana, Mission. She has been active in various church and civic organizations. She has served in the past primary and Relief Society Presiteadency's and Sunday School cher. L) the North Shore, where they saw the surf at Sunset Beach, with waves 10 and 15 feet high. They passed through the lovely little town of Haleiwa, which is a vacationer's paradise - with its lovely horses and quaint shops. The flowers bloomed all over the island lovely exotic flowers in every color you can imagine. They also enjoyed going to the International Market place, where there are dozens of stalls set up and selling jewelry made of jade, ivory, opal and cloisonne'. There are also stores there selling the most beautiful hand crocheted and embroidered clothing. They spent many pleasant hours wandering through there. But best of all was the chance to spend a month with Laura and the children over the Christmas holidays and to see the children on Christmas morning opening their presents by the Christmas tree says Marjorie. "It was a lovely vacation, but it's nice to be back with family, friends and snow". Laura's cousin Terry Burnham of Salt Lake City visited Laura in Hawaii recently also. He is spending a few days on the islands. They had a very nice visit while he was there and Laura was able to take him around and show him some of the most popular sights Including the bikini clad girls on the beach. Word has been received that Martin Arthur McCulley has been named to the fall quarter honor roll at the University of Utah. To be named to the honor roll a student must maintain an average of 3.5 or better in all academic subjects where 4.0 is the equivalent to an sledding at test hill with Colleen Johnson's family and Karl Briscoe's family. Artie told Tiffany that he would show her how they used to do when he was a little boy from California and they would come to Grandpa and Grandma's. He said, We sledded until we were frozen, then came in to warm up with Grandma's hot chocolate and cookies. This year Aunt Colleen made the hot chocolate. Artie, Cassie andTiffany Leeper of Meridian, Miss, spent two weeks with grandparents, Ben and Judy Briscoe. This was Tiffany's first time to see snow. He was a student assistant coach at SUSC for two years until graduation from college with a B.A. degree in physical education and a minor in businesseconomics. He attended summer quarter at Utah State University to complete teaching certificate requirements. After college he took a job at Milford City as City Manager for one year. Since 1980 he has been a teachercoach at Milford High School. The subjects he has taught have included: geography, physiology, general business, UJS. history, health and physical education. Coaching responsibilities have been in football, basketball and track. It takes a balance on the part of both home and school to give the student a total BARNES Kevin Barnes was born October 1956, to Ray and Shirlene Barnes and was the third son of He was born in four children. Milford and lived there until age 18 and returned at age 22. He attended school at Milford Elementary and Milford High School and was acitve in athletics: basketball, football, track and golf. Kevin was captain of the football team and made All State basketball, finished third in the long jump and fourth in the high jump at "State" track meet and in golf his team placed eighth in "State." 18, -- one-hal- Some of her hobbles are working in her yard, ceramics, painting and quilting. Mary Ann graduated from Beaver High School, and returned to college later In life and graduated from Southern Utah Slate College in 1979. For twelve years until 1983, her family worked summers at Grand Canyon guiding tours, and helping them to appreciate the beauty of our country in that area.
