Gonzalez When I was In elementary school and high school, one of the things I really looked forward to was eating hot lunch, in fact, it was the highlight of my entire day. I think this resulted from two reasons i first of all. the food was good, it was nourishing and filling; and secondly, when there were leftovers, they gave us a chance at "seconds". From all the reports I have received, tha Hot Lunch Program for the Mllford Schools la excellent. Because of this, I sincerely feel that many parents of children seven through 12 are not taking advantage of a good lunch program in general and especially our 'Tree" and "Reduced" lunches. Our government is being most liberal with their guide-line- s. With your permission may I quote Superintendent Baalem, "The free and reduced school lunch la not tba typical "give away" program aimed at a relatively "few". Under present guidelines most families qualify for tha reduced price benefit." Dr. Raslem continues by saying, "All families who pay taxaa now share In the costs of tha government reimbursement share of tba school lunch program." Sometimes people let pride stand in tha way of something that they are eligible for. I certainly fit that description a few years ago. Dr. Raslem also tells ua that for each fully "paid" ($1X0) lunch wa win now lose 16? per lunch for tha district whan compared with tha government reimbursement rata for tha free and reduced (400 lunches. If mora people would alp up for tha free and reduced hmches, assuming of course they would fell within tha liberal government guide- -; lines, tha School District may even ba able to lower tha prices for tha paid lunches. I am told that soma of tha school districts have as many as 80 free or reduced lunches. .In reality, tha closer we coma to all using tba program, the mora fair it becomes. i. JUST BETWEEN . probably dont realize it, but application to this program la open tha entire school year. As your principal ! strongly urge you to have your youngster ask for another' guideline from tha office and reexamine your status. Please remember, all of this la kept under the strictest of confidence.. No one will know unless you tell no other way some- one could find out. If that la a con serve the recognition. We bought they played an excellent game, with only 23 ballplayers (one ailing) compared to Beavers 75, and it looked like more. And the Beavers definitely knew they had been in a ball game, even though the score didnt show it. The Tigers are tha smallest school playing football in Utah. And without intending to take anything away from a great Beaver team and their coach, our congratulations go to the gutsy little red and white team, that go head to head without asking any quarter. vantage of the school lunch opportunity than one Is of the schooling Back good people! opportunity.
