" An NCO with the 6514th Test Squadron received Stripes for Exceptional Performers promotion Sept. 14. SSgt. Bob Given was promoted to the rank of technical sergeant during a visit by Maj. Gen. "Peet" Odgers, commander, Air Force Flight Test Center, to the 6514 TS. When asked about his promotion, which he was unaware of, he said, "I now have a real apprecia-tiofor the STEP system. It reminds me of past promotion systems which recognized and rewarded people for specific achievements." Sergeant Given said, "I appreciate the opportunity for added responsibility I've had in the 6514th , , v - .a n Test Squadron." Sergeant Given is a project manager and research and development technician for the 6514th Test Squadron. One test he has been involved with is the Printed Circuit Card Qualification Test Program in support of the 80H winch. This winch system is the one used to mid-ai- r retrieve the Air Launched Cruise ' Missile after test flights. Hill AFB golf pro Mike Nash was recently recognized at a Directorate of Maintenance Commander's Call for his efforts in saving the life of a base employee's wife who collapsed on the golf course. Glenn Baggs, an employee in the Directorate of Maintenance, and his wife Evelyn, were starting a I round of golf June 19 when shortly after teeing off Mrs. Baggs collapsed from heart failure. llllll Her doctors later determined the failure was due to a chemical imbalance caused by her medication. Mr. Baggs asked friends to call an ambulance and Mm when Mr. Nash heard of the emergency he rushed out to help. He took control of the situation and instructed Mr. Baggs on how to assist him with cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This was performed for about 10 minutes until the ambulance arrived and Mrs. Baggs was rushed to lllSMIlII the base hospital, stabilized and then taken to a local community hospital. Doctors informed Mr. Baggs that without CPR' she would not have Mike Nash survived.
