This surcharge is reimbursed in the per diem rate paid to TDY people. Payment of the surcharge should be covered in TDY orders. It is the responsibility of members on TDY to tell the cashier at the dining hall that he or she is on TDY status and should pay the surcharge. Failure to pay surcharges is fraud against the government and a waste of Air Force funds. Action can be taken against persons who fail to pay surcharges. Any organization having enlisted members on TDY should ensure that they are aware of this requirement.
