Show Friday, December 3, HILL TOP TIMES 1982 Page 15 service opens ProcessDBH An open house introducing the Hill AFB Information Center will be held Wednesday and Thursday in Room 164. Bldg. 100. The Information Center is set up to provide Hill AFB data users with services not offered. by traditional application development. This service consists of tools, techniques and support that will allow users to access a wide variety of data on their terms and satisfy demand processing needs. The primary objectives of the Information Center are to build user in their use of demand-processin- g services, to increase user productivity, and to improve the decision-makin- g process by making relevant data more readily available. End-use- r services now being tested n walk-iInformation Centers in in the the Data Automation Branch and in the Directorate of Maintenance are color graphics and query processing. Additional services under evaluation are problem solving, report generation self-sufficien- cy and business planning. Future plans include establishing additional walk-i- n centers in each of the directorates along with some specialized terminals outside of the walk-i- center environment. Electronic mail capability is also planned at a future date. The Information Center is unlike the traditional functions of building, delivering, and running an operational s build applisystem. It helps cations themselves and use the computer directly in mode Bob Gleave, Information Center manager, said, "The purpose of the open house is to introduce you to this new service and demonstrate how easy it is to use." The open house will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Live color graphic demonstrations will be provided in the walk-icenter located in Room 164. Mr. Gleave said, "Bring along a sample chart and we will show it to you in living color.
