Show Page 44 HILL TOP TIMES Friday, November 12, 1982 Youth 'roundball' Oub 'team.' beats Suh Lake opponent ETflllS ECcairafte - r: registration begins Registration for Hill AFB youth basketball leagues begins Monday at the Youth Center, A five-ma- n team from the Hill AFB Karate Club defeated a Salt Lake Ci- ty karate team 15-- 7 Saturday night at Carpenter's Hall in Salt Lake City. Their controlled fight was a side 'I T event to several full contact karate fights between world ranked competitors. ' Fighting for the Hill team were Harold Cherry, team instructor; Stan Tolliver, Wayne Freeman, Danny Sanchez and W.T. Johnson. All but Freeman defeated their opponents. Sanchez also scored a victory in a full contact bout with a second round technical knockout. He is now 0 in full contact fighting. His first win was also by knockout. The Hill Karate Club travels to Salt Lake City tomorrow for the United States Karate Association Open. For more information on the tournament contact the base gym, Ext. 62762. Sports car club closes '82 season with autocross The Hill Sports Car Club ran their, last autocross of the 1982 season Oct. 17 in Parking Lot 1 west of the Officers' Club. The fastest time of the day was turned in by John Johnson. He clocked a 1:21.38 for the D Prepared class in his Fiat 124 Spyder. The club will open their 1983 season April 10 under the direction of George Cap, president; Steve Thurgood, treasurer; and Jim Emig, secretary. Mr. Dicus stated that there is currently a preseason youth's to dependents; ages eight through 17, of active military, retired military and Departof Defense ment civilians. Registration fee is $10 per child with a youth card and $12 per child without a youth basketball clinic held each Saturday at the Youth Center from 10 a.m. until noon.
