Basic Insurance The amount of basic life insurance available to each eligible employee under age 45 will be increased commencing with the first pay period which begins on or after Oct. 1, 1981, at no additional cost to the employee. The increase will be graduated according to the employee's age. Also, the cost of basic insurance has been reduced slightly from 25 V2 cents per thousand dollars of coverage, to 24 cents. The rates for the optional insurance types and reduced rates for basic insurance become effective April 1, 1981. Younger employees must sign up for basic insurance during the open season to benefit from increased amounts of this insurance that take effect Oct. 1 , without additional cost to the individual.
