November 16, 1979 Kudo for on SP Child care age lowered The Air Force will expand child day care at bases by lowering the infant age requirement at base day care centers from six months to six weeks. 126 I would like to commend someone for helping me. I was newly assigned the 5th of October 1979 to the 388th TF W. When I came through the gate I was towing another car. Later that afternoon my car broke down. A Security Policeman who had been on the gate, after duty hours, took three hours of his own time to help me to try and diagnose the problem with the car and get parts to try and get it fixed. In addition to that, he drove me to the parts place and he drove my family back to billeting. I would like to commend him. His name is SrA. Jeffrey Trapp. I want to commend him for going beyond the line of duty. This action is designed to make it less difficult for single parents and working wives to have careers and raise their children. The decision to lower age requirements, targeted for implementation in March 1980, was made following a test at the Kelly care center AFB, Tex., day by the Air Force Manpower and Personnel Center's Morale, 90-d- ay Welfare and Recreation Operations Branch. Officials said individual base centers would be given time to examine results of the Kelly test and tailor their programs to local needs before implementation. Children with chronic problems such as asthma or allergies will be admitted if local authorities agree the health and safety of all children can be safeguarded. If a youngster requires regularly administered oral medication (no injections), the parent must come to the center to administer them.
