MMTDSF: "I think the course is very good and that all women on base should attend it Those little drinks that you go home and take at night, to calm yourself down, can lead into something bad. Alcoholism affects the family and the individual's ability to know what they are doing on the job. I think the course will be beneficial to everyone to make them aware of the problems of those they come in contact with during the job and also at home. I feel that my time was well spent and I recommend the seminar to each and every woman on base." iiiiililiiiliiliiil ''IK7! . 47 r ASs Karen Bezoski, procurement clerk, PMXD: "The course, in my estimation, was excellent. It was not just presented; rather, the instructors showed enthusiasm and came across that they had much interest in the program. I have had instructors give classes that when I left I had the feeling they simply gave the class because they were asked to give it. I could see this information was important to both Connie Truax and Jerry Biggar and that it would be of benefit to many people. The material presented was very informative. It helped me understand that women with a drinking problem have one thing in common with their male counterparts, that is a troubled life. Beyond that, their reasons for drinking are very different. It was interesting to me to learn that with the lay public, alcoholic women receive less understanding and sympathy then alcoholic men. This is probably because of the double stigma that is attached to the drinking female. I also became aware of the importance of 4, X i f '7f , ' , encouraging problem drinkers to seek help. f To me, attending the class was time well spent." ay ; 1 v. wmm&mM 1 X . J ; wmmmmmM . I learned things I never realized, since I haven't been in contact with people that have drug and alcohol problems. Although it was thorough, the seminar was a little too brief for me. I didn't have time to let the problems sink in before we went to another area. I am sure there are men who are not acquainted with these problems and they too could benefit from this course. I became more conscious of the drug and alcohol abuse, and since I am a part time EEO counselor and I recently assumed a temporary supervisory role as a WS-1this course . will be especially beneficial to me." 0, there IS a need for awareness? 66 .,.&s. .s, iipi wllil ..Ms.',, wmMmm piii ,, i wmmmm f &.. 149 PI sjmm 67 . Judith S. Collins, payroll supervisor, "I was quite impressed with it. At first I didn't want to go, because I had been to a drug and alcoholic course that Mr. Biggar presented. However, this course dealt more with the problems of women. It made me see that there is a need for awareness with the ACFTC: .t mmsmm U. S. Air of valuable 99 . . information. alcoholics. Still, I picked up many pointers that I failed to learn in my previous training about women in particular. I think the program is not only helpful to women in learning about problems of other women, but possibly husbands and families of alcoholic women can benefit from it. If one goes to the class with the attitude asking "What can I learn" rather than "Why do I have to be here," they will gain much from the seminar. Mr. Biggar whetted my appetite for more information on drug abuse and marriage counseling. I would like to attend another seminar to expand my awareness in these areas. a lot problem, not only with alcohol but also with drugs.
