Show November Warnings on fork lifts Q Quite often I have observed fork lifts traveling on streets that are posted at 40 miles per hour. Many times these vehicles don't even have warning lights on or slow vehicle warning labels. My suggestion is that it be mandatory to have these warning labels placed on all slow moving vehicles. OO-AL- C A user to insure that such vehicles under their control are properly equipped with the appropriate emblems. A letter is being prepared by Safety to all commanders and division chiefs requesting that they again perform a onetime inspection of their equipment to insure it is properly equipped with the emblems and that they are properly maintained. Use of government vehicles have noticed on several occasions government vehicles being used for other than government business. Is this legal? If not, what can be done to prevent this sort of thing? I Q Government vehicles should not be utilized for other than official business. At any time that you observe vehicles being Utilized for a personal convenience you should note the vehicle registration number and report your observance to the Vehicle Operations Branch (TPO-Ex- t. 5452). Action will be taken to identify the organization and operator involved and appropriate measures taken to correct any noted vehicle misuse or abuse. If you request, TPO will report back to you regarding what the investigative results were and actions taken. Your assistance will be appreciated. While we have an effective Vehicle Control Officer program and a variety of self inspection plans there are still occurrences that take place contrary to established regulations that require the interest of all employees. Sale of beer at gas pumps Why is beer being offered for sale beside the gas pumps at the Base Exchange Gas Station? I am sure this is intended as a convenience for the customer; however, because of the high percentage of motor vehicle accidents which involve alcohol, I don't believe the base should be selling this there. Beer is sold on the pump islands only at the BX Service Station as a convenience to the customer and to alleviate some of the traffic congestion due to the limited parking at the Picnic Pantry. The beer, sold by the case or is not refrigerated and is not cold, thus discouraging the driver from grabbing a quick, cool one for consumption on the way home or back to work. six-pac- k, Stray animal disposition Q Would you please explain what is done when stray animals on base are picked up by the Security Police?
