Scott An aircrew within the 34th Tactical Fighter Squadron is rather unique - they're known throughout the 388th Tactical Fighter Wing as the "Iron City Crew." Capt. Frank C. Buch and Capt. Richard P. Sismour are both originally from Pittsburgh, Perm., and were given their nickname while assigned at Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base (RTAFB), Thailand. "When the other squadron pilots found out we were from the town that's known as 'Steel City, USA'," Captain Sismour smiled, "they couldn't "resist giving us the name of 'Iron According to Captain Sismour, the "Iron City Crew" goes back some time. They were initially assigned together at Nellis AFB, Nev., prior to going overseas to Korat RTAFB, Thailand. When U.S. Forces were withdrawn from Southeast Asia, the "Iron City Crew" came to Hill AFB. Captain Buch added, "We thought the 'Iron City Crew' would fade away when we came to Hill," he said, "but it didn't. We're still as strong as ever." Whether Captain Buch or Captain Sismour are known as the "Iron City Crew" or the City Crew'." "Tin City Plumbers," one thing is certain - everyone knows them in the 388th Tactical Fighter Wing.
