The board considered 6,958 officers and used the full quota. In the primary zone, 2,124 officers (both line and component) were chosen from 6,093 eligibles for a 35 per cent overall selection rate. In the secondary zone, 170 of 865 line and component officers nominated were selected. A total of 1,952 line officers was selected in the primary zone and 158 in the secondary zone. Promotion categories other than line in the primary zone show 28 chaplains, 28 judge advocates, 65 nurses, 23 medical service officers, 5 veterinarians, and 23 biomedical science officers selected. There were 12 officers from the components selected in the secondary zone. Liberal leave , separations for holidays The Air Force will observe liberal leave and permit early separation of personnel for the 1976-7- 7 Christmas and New Year holiday season. Officers and airmen whose normal separation dates occur between Dec. 2, 1976, through Jan. 3, 1977, may be separated any time during that period, provided they request separation. Requests for leave and separation may be denied if the commander determines that the early loss or leave of the member would have a critical and adverse impact on the unit's mission.
