Show WESTERN AMERICANA WIMBO II Day August 16 ami Vol. 28 No. 30 OGDEN, UTAH turn August 1, 1975 orjui; uiv. 5 ' The 1975 Hill AFB Rodeo Season is now officially over. Hill AFB's teams made a good showing by winning the Pony Express Race and bringing home the biggest share of trophies from Defense Night. Announcement of Hill AFB's Outstanding Cowboy and Cowgirl for 1975 was made last night at the rodeo banquet at the FAMCAMP pavillion. This year's winners were Rolayne Poll and Sgt. Alan Garner. ROLAYNE POLL Mrs. Poll is a branch Contract for secretary Maintenance, Directorate of Procurement and Production. Her horse, Joe is a old gelding, mostly quarter horse. She raised him from a colt, broke and trained him herself and treats him "like family." Mrs. Poll rode Joe to victory e for Hill AFB in the pony express race. He then carried her on to win the goat tying event at the elimination rodeo and then the pair recorded the fastest time to 15-ye- ar ten-mil- anchor the Hill team on Defense Night. Mrs. Poll and Joe also competed in the keyhole race event at Hill, but lost when Joe stepped on the line for a penalty. Mrs. Poll is married and husband Doug is a metal fabricator for an Ogden firm. They are both natives of South VVeber and were high school sweethearts. The Poll's live in Clinton with their three children, Bart, Bret and Shelley. GARNER AIJVN Alan Gamer is Sgt. an Administrative Assistant in the Vehicle Transportation Division, 2849th Air Base Group. He entered five of the seven events at the Hill Elimination Rodeo and did well in all of them. On Defense Night, Sergeant Garner came in as an alternate in the steer riding event for Terrell Pierce, who was hospitalized. After winning, he said, "I won it for Terry." Sergeant Garner was also on the winning team in the wild horse race event. His horse, Toche, is a five-ye- ar old registered appaloosa m z gelding. Calling Northplatte, Neb. home, he has been ridizgij&fefj-hwas five. Sergeant Garner recently if-- -- -. reenlisted and plans to make the Air Force his career. A SELECTION a' " 4 i Race only. Sergeant Hokanson. an information technician with the Base Information Office, is presently serving as an assistant editor for the Hill Top Times. A leader in his local church, he is involved with both youth and adult church programs. His hobbies are photography and history. He and his wife with their six children reside in Ogden. Ponds is a technical review inspector for the 4754th Radar Evaluation Sergeant He is the departure that evening. They plan to feature as the Indian part of WIMBO II traditional dances and a speaker prepared to answer questions during a question and answer forum.
