It's a good way to start the new year! And you can do it with no muss, fuss or bother. How? Let Air Force send your check to the bank each payday. No more trips to the bank means savings on gas, on wear and tear on the car. And how about you! How much is your time worth! ? No need to waste it on needless trips to the bank! Air Force guarantees your money will be in the bank (or a financial institution of your choice) on payday. But there are other savings savings to you as a taxpayer. Uncle Sam forwards just one overall check to each bank, with a listing of who gets what. If you count only the blank check stocks needed to pay 1,000,000 Air Force military and civilian employees two checks a month for a year, you get a cost of $190,000. Add to that the cost of printing and mailing individual checks and you have some idea of what the savings could be. Fifty-tw- o per cent of AFLC employees now have their checks mailed to banks. Command Comptroller officials hope to make that figure 100 per cent by the end of 1972. How about you? If you're one who hasn't tried the easy way out of payday waiting lines, why not give it a try! For more information, military personnel should call Ext. 3724 and civilian employees should call Ext. 3085. - 'Write' to Vote Members of the Air Force who meet the necessary qualifications have a right to vote. And while it's true that our Nation's general election is scheduled for that date, it isn't the only time that most will have an opportunity to voice their preference in national, state and local elections this year. The presidential primary parade already has started, with New Hampshire, Florida and Illinois leading the way in March. Most other states have scheduled primary elections in which you may be eligible to remember Feb. 1, 1972. If you are not registered before Feb. 1, 1972, you will not be able to vote in 1972. However, if you are a member of the U.S. Armed Forces or Puerto Rico National Guard stationed outside of Puerto Rico, you may register by mail using the Federal Post Card Application or by Petition for Registration. The request for the "petition for registration" should be addressed to the General Supervisor of Elections, Office of the Superintendent General, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, San Juan, Puerto Rico, 00903. The General Supervisor will send you the "petition for registration" form which you must then complete and return in time for it to be received by the General Supervisor not later than the first day of February 1972. The General Supervisor will then mail you a registration card which must be completed and returned in time to be received by the General Supervisor not later than March 5, 1972. Once you are registered, you may vote in both the Primary and General Elections. But remember that date Feb. 1, 1972. You must meet that deadline if you want to vote in 1972. AFRP (An AFNS 190-- 1 Feature) There's been a "dramatic reduction" in the use of U.S. airpower in Southeast Asia, according to Secretary of the Air Force Robert C. Seamans Jr. He says that the Air Force now has three major responsibilities in the war: "One is to support troops, by close support of our own troops and for those of our allies. "Second, is the interdiction to stop the flow of supplies from North Vietnam down into Cambodia and South Vietnam as well as to respond to the request of the Laotians to stop the flow of supplies to the westward in Northern Laos.
