Especially cited were the first team and first individual SCHOOL Or CtlAL'TY 350 North Mam Si., Lay ton V 'l i I; in from Ogden AMA to serve in Southeast Asia. The first Ogden AMA team were members of a Rapid Area Supply Support team and served in the combat area from Sept. 24 to Nov. 23, 1965. They were Edmund R. Thompson, William R. Brown, Joseph A. Harbertson, and William Wade, all from Supply. The first individual Ogden AMA employee to have Vietnam duty was an employee of Materiel Management, James R. Pfenninger, who served from Nov. 25, 1965 to Feb. 18, 1966. The distinctive lapel emblem was recently developed and approved by Air Force Logistics Command to honor employees for over days service in Vietnam. The design of the pin is unique, showing a lion representative of a hostile warrior; a dove symbolizing the unarmed civilian worker; and an olive branch denoting peace. An oak leaf and acorns over the shield represent strength and growth of knowledge over death and war.
