FT 7 'W 7m WASHINGTON (AFNS) The Air Force will begin hiring 3,000 civilians on Jan. 1, 1966, as the first step toward the eventual replacement of 20,000 military personnel in support areas. This initial increment, which will substitute civilians for some 3,270 airmen in the civil engineering function, is scheduled to be completed by June 30, 1966. Military personnel replaced will be shifted to support other requirements based on a study begun almost two years ago under Project Prime BEEF (Base Engineering Emergency Forces). e Prime BEEF is a program which will identify the minimum number of military personnel required in civil engineering to provde the necessary mobility for Air Force deployment, a balanced statesideover seas ratio, a greater degree of training and career progression and the military element required work force. in the long-rang- day-to-d- ay 1 1 Maj.
