Show .... HILL TOP TIMES Topper Named NDTA Regional Vice President; exercise Accepts Chapter Award; Completes Current Dresident of the local Charles O. Topper, chief of the Transportation Operations Division, Directorate of Supply and Transportation, has been named regional vice president of the National Defense Transpor tation Association. He took office Sept. 29 and will serve for one year. Mr. Topper will represent NDTA's headquarters, which is located in Washington, D. C, as the "voice" of the Utah Chapter in dealing with the national headquarters. This, includes as sisting the chapter in matters rhanter is Col. C. W. Hahn, ,chief r of Plans and Management ui- - f ice. pertaining to programs and chapter development. He served two years (1962-64- ) as president of the Utah chapter, and for the past 18 months as chapter secretary-treasure- r. On a recent trip to the NDTA annual transportation and logistics forum, held in Detroit, Mich., Mr. Topper also accepted the "Chapter of the Year award on behalf of the local chapter. This award was presented to the chapter for "the exceptional job it has done in emergency preparedness." The drill comprised stocking the Post Office in Salt Lake City with 16,000 pounds of emergency suDDlies. This brings to a total of 134 shelters in Salt Lake City now all equipped and ready for any emergency. Payment for a maximum of 60 days' accrued leave is authorized for survivors of regular members who die on active duty amd reservists who die while on active duty for training for a period of 30 consecutive days or more.
