The process is saving the Air Force time and money in addition to aleviating a critical shortage. Generator Shortage Halted By Rewiring Armatures Seven heads are better than one when it comes to saving Uncle Sam an estimated $32,000 during the past five months at Hill AFB. A team set up in the Electric shop in Maintenance in late 1000 received a suggestion on rewiring certain type of aircraft generators by one of its members Robbie Robison. A critical Air Force shortage existed for the aircraft generators that require three armatures. Normally, the armatures would be replaced if found defective but private contractors were unable to manufacture enough of them to keep up with' the growing demand. Such a problem is "right up the team Hey" for the whose members consist of a plan pre-planni- ng pre-planni- ng rier Squadrons from California will join them at Gowen Field to make up a huge aerial armada. The com mittee's main purpose is organiz ing, controlling and managine work assigned to the electric shop. Besides Mr. Robison, other members of the team include Yule Peterson, Gene Fisher, Jim Mont gomery, Dale Quinlan, Emmett East and Bill Callahan. Mr. Robison suggested that the committee look into the possibility of rewiring the electrical equipment a job thought impossible to be done. Putting their heads together the committee worked out a repair procedure which turned out a product superior to that of the factory-mad- e item. The electric shop is now turning out 12 armatures a day at a savings of 7, each over, the cost of buying a new one.
