Show January 5, 1952 HILL TOP TIMES Athletic Program Planned for Hill Airmen During '52 colonel, who's a corporal, is jockey Jack Prindle. Jack is the lad who handles the security clearance for the Air Provost Marshal ; office. The Prindle family recently moved to Ohio i and Jack swears the move had nothing to do with the quality of corn they produced, (they're farmers) but the newly Buckeye can sure steer you to a bar-' gain on 65 feet of slightly used copper tubing. Used it to heat the water naturally. Back among the green hills of Kaintuck Jack and his brother are known as big horsemen in a small way. Seems the Prindle i A due raise pint sized pure breds, ponies that is, and exhibited them at the local county and state fairs. Took quite a few of the coveted blue ribbons, too. Prindle is the picnic King in the barracks he now calls home. Although strictly a slim lim, Jack and his buddies can do away with enough chow in ten minutes to keep Food Service happy for six months. A typical midnight repast consists of six hamburgers, two large orders of french fries, three pints of milk, two mammoth bags of pop corn, and a freely flowing supply of amber delight. For relaxation this hungry character has a set routine He heads for Salt Lake, Beau Brummel's, and a 14 course Smorgasbord Sherlock Holmes would have to take a back seat to a Hill AFB airman. We have a sleuth here who chases the most ellusive of criminals, carelessness and does a good job of catching accidents before they ft f happen. Sgt. Harry Herter, graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Safety Engineering, and believe me his profs should be proud of him. Harry bloodhounds from one end of the base to the other, hot on the heels of careless personnel who seem bent on having an accident, or delving deeply in the contributing factors of an accident that has already happened. The boys in the barracks come under the close scrutiny of the safety N.C.O. and should a shower clog clad g.i. as much as slip an inch on the stairs, Herter is on the scene completely equipped with slip board, D. F. forms, accident reports, safety booklets, first aid kit, plasma, and camera. The service is free and guaranteed to please. Should an unfortunate airman commit such a dastardly crime as smoking in bed he is automatically banished to the Siberia of the transient barracks for a period of not less than thirty days. All kidding aside, Sgt. Herter is a very conscientious guy with a whale of a big job to do. It's realy amazing how foolish little mistakes can result in serious injury or loss of life. So don't figure that you're doing Harry Herter a favor when you're safety conscious, brother, you're helping yourself.
