Show Pogt 4 Air Reserve Unit Gets Safety Award 7 m Visiting Hill Air Force Base on Thursday, April 29, Brigadier General John E. Upston, commanding general of the Fourth Air Force presented the Ogden Air Reserve Training Detachment with the Fourth Air Force Flying Safety Pennant. Awarded for 10,696 hours of safe flying performed by Air Reservists and regular Air Force personnel the presentation of the pennant was made during a simple, though colorful, ceremony conduct- ed at the Base Theater. The Fourth Air Force Flying Safety Pennant is awarded for a twelve-mont- h period. The Ogden Air Reserve Training Detachment has attained one of the highest safe flying records within the Fourth Air Force and since May 1, 1947 has had no fatalities, injuries or airplane crashes. Present at the ceremonies were Brigadier General John E. Upston, Colonel Frank D. Hackett, and Lieutenant Colonel C. G. Winn. During the course of the ceremonies a recording of the program was made. The recording was broadcast over station KUTA at 10:30 p. m. Thursday evening as a special feature of the United States Air Force Reserve radio program usually held at that time.
