With its passing it will have left a rich blessing, deeply imprinted in your hearts and will have bestowed a divine revelation of "Peace on earth," good, will toward . men," if you have approached the seasonal day in an attitude of humble faith. Peace on earth among nations has not been established. The empty chair is still present at the Christmas dinner table. These things sadden the "heart and have a tendency to cast a cloud of gloomy atmosphere on the occasion. But it need not be so. There is a deeper and richer significance in Christmas. The message is heralded by the angel: "A SAVIOR is born." Peace has been established between God and men. The true, eternal, everlasting peace covenant has been signed and sealed by God Himslf. The Poet expressed it this way: "Signed when our Redeemer died, sealed when He was glorified." Following the Spirit of God,, we shall hope for, pray for and work for ultimate outward peace among nations. This peace can only become a reality when men everywhere come in humility and in sincerity to the Cradle Manger in Bethlehem to behold tbe greatest of all wonders and to find there the essence of God's desire for all men There may be many political issues involved in the prosecution of this global war, but you cannot cast aside the intrinsic issue of the religious principle of equality and freedom among men. It is basic equality and freedom that God desires and it is this in application which is beralded to all men in the message of the angels. It is the fulfilment of this for which we are hoping and praying, and working and fighting. May we this Christmas Day behold anew God's purpose for men, the salvation of all without distinction and may we resolve that God's purpose shall not be banished from the earth or clouded or shaded or covered, but that it shall shine out in all its brilliance and beauty. May this Christmas Day bring to you a new blessing as you more fully understand its meaning and its application to you, and last, but not least, your your friends, your fellow-me- n enemies. "Glory to God in the highest, Peace on earth, good will, toward men." KARL A. TUBESING Staff Chaplain , , . . Hydraulic Press ft t Col. Wolf Asks -- COLONEL PAUL W.
