These cash awards are not intended as payment for ideas, but are paid by the government as a tangible form of appreciation for suggestions that will not only increase efficiency in all divisions but economize the use of personnel, material and equipment. 95 per . To date approximately cent of all contributions were turned in by personnel of the maintenance division, with supply division submitting only two and one-ha- lf per cent. She is about as well known as the Red Cross field worker, the nattily attired R. C. motor corps driver, the woman's auxiliary volunteer worker. Gen. Ruth Spencer Andersen; ' Appointment of Ruth Spencer Anderson , as OASC director of recreational welfare replacing William Frazer, resigned, war announced this week by Lt William Harrison, OASC employe relations officer. Previous ' to ' her latest assignment, Mrs. Anderson was director of recreation in the dormitory area and supervisor of women's activities. ' She has been employed here since December, 1043, coming front the Dorchester House in Boston. Mass., where she was an instructor in recreation. An expanded recreational program for dormitory residents ie planned for the coming fail and winter seasons, she said, adding that an activity schedule providing for participation by every OASC worker would be one of her major objectives. Her husband, Lt (Jg) Charles Hoyt Anderson, is stationed in Trinidad, South America, with a supply and dispersing unit in the U. S. navy.
