Watkins will apeak in regard to the proposed realignment and hard surfacing of the Mt. Nebo Scenic loop road. The meeting, under sponacsorship of the Nephi Lions Club, is absolutely cording to a joint announcement by E. C. Sherwood, chairman of this event, and Jack Brough, president of the Lions Club. Senator Watkins, officials of the Regional Forest office at Ogden; officials of the Uinta National Forest office at Provo, representatives of the State Road Commission of Salt Lake City; Utah and Juab County Commissions; City officials of Nephi, Payson, Santaquin and Mona, as well as representatives of civic clubs and the weekly newspapers of the area, will meet at the Payson City Park at 12:30, and leave at 1 p. m. on a two-hotrip over the scenic drive. Stops will be made at several points on the drive where there are outstanding scenic views. At 3 p. m., approximately, the group making the drive will assemble at Camp Etedandsons where an informal discussion will take place concerning needs of the area as well as the road oiling program. The road, despite its condition, has been popular as a scenic drive over the years since it was constructed, and is valuable as a game access road. The improvement program at Camp Dadandson also will be discussed at the 3 p. m. meeting in the canyon. Lillian S. Cowan Funeral services were conduct ed Wednesday afternoon at the d Ward chapel for Mrs. Lillian S. Cowan, 79, widow Mrs Cowan of Roy T. Cowan. died Sunday morning at her home here following a lingering illness Bishop Ray W. Worthinton of the Nephi First Ward presided at Interment in the the sercices. Nephi City cemetery was directed by Anderson Funeral home. Mrs. Cowan, a member and past president of the Ladies Literary Club, was born January 25, 1877, at Cleveland, Ohio, to Henry Carston and Anna B. Stel--ma- n. She was married to Roy T. Cowan March 20 1900 in the Salt Lake LIDS temple. She had resided in Nephi during the majority of her lifetime. Surviving Mrs. Cowan are three sons and three daughters: Stell- - . man E. Cowan, Salt Lake City,' Roy Thomas Cowan and Jack C Cowan of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Marie Lunt and Mrs. Virgin ia Madsen, of Nephi and Mrs. Martha C. Gosling of Portland. One meeting already has been held by the group with the Public Service Commission in Salt Lake City. Information on specific examples of freight differentials which are too great a differential to competitive points north of Nephi as compared with those to Nephi, have been furnished to tine Public Service commission and the matters are now under consideration by that group, according to John Parkin, prnesid-en- t of the group. Christensen, former resident of Nephi and Moroni. Funeral services and Jburial will be at Oakland, California. Mr. Christensen resided in Nephi for several years until 18 months ago, when he moved to California with his son in law Mr. and Mrs. and daughter, Claude Worthington. He was employed by Premium Oil Co. while He was born at Moroni here. December 25, 1887, a son of Hyrum and Mary Ellen Draper He married Carol Christensen. ine Anderson In 1909, and she died In 1951.
