Babies are now dressed like miniature Bdults and their fashions are often copied from adult fashions. About five years ago, white was the wanted color for layettes. Now the demand is for pastels and even prints! But after experiments with pale greens and yellows, parents returned to pink for girls and blue for boys. Further research into fashions for babies shows that babies are bigger than ever. is increasing and babies seem to be growing faster and wearing larger sizes than ever before. Dresses for babies are not as popular as they once were because they hamper activity. In discussions given by Dr. Paul Christensen and Gordon Van Epps of the Utah State Agricultural college, it was pointed out that the increase in yield from double fallow was due to the nitrifying bacteria having had time to break down the subbble and make nitrogen available to the plant. Experiments have' shown that the addition of 20 pounds of available nitrogen in the form of commercial fertilizer to the subble hastens the breakdown of the stubble so that about the same response is obtained in one year fallow with addition of nitrogen as was obtained by the nitrifying bacteria in two year fallow. Response has been obtained whenever barnyard manure has bee nadded. Ronald Cowers and J. Walter Paxmn stated that this was evident for three response crops or six years. Visits were made to the Proso field planted this year by the 71st Quorum of Seventy and to fall and spring barley seeded on dryland. Leon Mickelson discussed provisions of the soil bank program and mentioned some provisions of the conservation program to get marginal lands back into grass.
