Savings bonds by Utah residents during August, as reported by the Federal Re- erve Bank, were $1,498,878, according to Reeve G. Richardson, savings bond chairman for East Juab County. "While this was an increase of 23 per cent over August of last year, and even though the sales of E and II series bonds are good, we are behind schedule in our quota of '4 million in 54, he said. "With the distribution of information on E und H bonds to practically every home in the state by the nowsbows during August, it is hoped that ninny Utahns will step up the purchasing of bonds during the coming months,' stated Charlies L. Smith, State Savings Bond chairman. A special appeal is being made to all farmers, cattlemen and other crop growers to set aside some of their earnings into either the familiar E bonds or the new II bonds which pay interest by Treasury check every six months. Both bonds make an excellent reserve fund for all emergencies, education reserves and supplements t& retirement programs" he continued. Mr. East Juab Richardson, County Chairman, made an appeal to everyone to help. "If everyone in our area would buy just an extra bond or two along with limit purchases by those who are financially able, Juab County would easily make Us quota" he stated. Let's now, in these comparatively peaceful times, sustain and upport our government in this all important program. Sales in Juab county for August were $4,200.00, according to the chairman.
