Show r The Times-Hew- s The V 1950 WINNER OF COMMUNITY SERVICE CUP PUBLISHED THE FRIENDLY AWARD - Volume 43 Nephi, Juab County, Utah, Thursday, November 6, 1952' Rebuilding of Flood Damage Progressing Rebuilding of the diversion dam at the mouth of Salt Creek dam canyon and the debris-basi- n at the upper power plant are processing rapidly this week, with more activity being seen in the canyon than since last spring's high water. At the upper power plant the are rebuilding Army Engineers the gravel control dam. At the mouth of the canyon, the structure so vital to Nephi's safety in case of flood, is being reconstructed. This structure was practically destroyed by the high water last spring. The diversion dam is being rebuilt under supervision of the Nephi Irrigation Company with the cooperation of the Soil Conservation Service and local PMA office. It -- will be almost completely rebuilt, using reinforced concrete and steel. The dam is the diversion point where water is diverted to the reguar irrigation channel through Nephi City, and the dam is so flow built that an above-normis diverted into the "Big Hollow", the overflow channel which must be credited with saving Nephi City from serious flood damage during last spring's record runoff. The Army Engineers are using stone from Andrews canyon as the basic material in the rebuilding of control dam at the gravel-debri- s the upper power plant. When completed this dam will be greatly improved over the former dam, the center of which was destroyed by the high waters of the spring. With the completion of this work, we will have repaired probably the two key structures in the canyon and irrigation system. al Former Nephi Young Man Reported "Missing" In Korean Conflict.
