Need For Religion October Livestock Men Join to Oppose Permit Cuts First of Series of Articles Tells" of Past Herd Reductions The following letter and article nave been recs eived by The for publication. Inasmuch 'as the sub ject matter is of vital importance to a large number of people of East Juab County if not the entire economy bf this area we are printing them in their entirety. The article is the first of a series: "In recent issues of The Times- News there have appeared articles regarding Forest official conduct ing tours with members of local clubs, school teachers ' and other interested citizens upon the Nebo range and water 6heds. It appears these tours were made along what is known as the Nebo Lloop road with the intent and purpose of pointing out the serious damage being done to our ranges by livestock grazing. Forest officials are now requesting another cut in livesctock permits despite , the fact that permits have been reduced 60 per cent in the last 30 years. Members of livstock associations from Goshen, Payson, Santaquin, Mona, Nephi, Levan, Moroni, Wales and Jerusalem recently met at Nephi and appointed a com mittee for the purpos of opposing futur cuts in permits and also to lay before the ublic ' the facts regarding our ranges. There is always two sides to every question and we solicit your cooperation in assisting us to present our side by publications in your paper. We might point out that we are very much interested in our ranges and watersheds, probably more than the average citizen, for our livlihood depends upon these lands. Without the water we use for irrigation and without the grazing for our livestock we would have, no income, leaving us with one alternaive: that of seeking a iivlihood elsewhere and we do not desire to do that.
