Smelting means much to Utah, as it brings outside products into the state for treatment. Mines ia all parts of the West ship their ores to Utah's four smelting plants and at times foreign mines ship their products to the state for reduction. Up to the present time operations in the district have been confined to the production of unrefined bullion, which is shipped outside the state for refining. Soon Mar-jori- Industry Utah will have a copper refinery which will greatly add to utan industry in the form of copper fabricating plants. Plans for the refinery are now being drawn up and ground has been broken for the plant near Garfiold. Completion of the refinery depends entirely upon the deliverv of materials and equipment. At the present time a tentative date for its completion has been set for 1950. By completing the cycle of mining, milling smelting and refining in Utah, tiie state will receive full utilization of its resources, and with the addition of fabricators, the state will receive its greatest industrial impetus. - gas flames In his bread ovens had flickered out.
